Activity Domains and Professional Involvement in National and International Context

The E-CAESAR Centre focuses on research in the ICT domain, particularly in the e-Government area. The expression of electronic governments describes in general the use of the information technology by the government in order to exchange information and services with citizens, companies and other parts of the govern. Today it is a research topic of great interest. The main activities of E-CAESAR will focus on interoperability, security and service efficiency. These activities will be supported through a network of partners from industry, the local research Centres and other Fraunhofer Institutes.

At a national level, the E-CAESAR Centre specializes in these applied research themes and ICT applications for improving the quality of administrative services, while in the same time leading research on other advanced topics such as electronic democracy, electronic procurement, electronic learning, electronic health, legal electronic, electronic commerce, electronic identity and electronic inclusion.

Secondly, the E-CAESAR Centre represents a contribution to the founding of an extensively wide connection of electronic government between Romania and Europe. Furthermore, it has the function of a node of competence for networking eGovernment laboratories in Romania and other European countries. Given Romania’s specific access to the market, in the countries of South-East Europe, the applications for this regional were also considered. Thus, another objective of the E-CAESAR Centre is to support the programmes and the research and applied initiatives of eGovernment through a regional coordination point and a network of training programs and components for creating and transferring knowledge on eGovernment and the development of a public administration and of a modern democracy in the region.
